The Control Room is located on the second floor of the Nathaniel Greene Community Center. It houses all the equipment used to air all tapes submitted on channels 18, 19 or 20. This facility contains technology used to:
  • Maintain records of tapes submitted for broadcast
  • Play back tapes over the channels
  • Control the time and duration of each tape being played as well as which channel they are broadcast.
  • Create bulletin board announcements and broadcast these messages over the channels during idle time not used for tapes.
  • Receive FAX and or email for community bulletin board.
  • Store equipment for use in taping multiple camera productions at remote locations.
  • Patch video and audio signals from any location in the community center for live broadcasts.

Computer that controls the Bulletin Board announcements (using PowerPoint) is to the right. Program schedules as well as Bulletin Board events are entered into this computer. Program schedules and Bulletin Board events air between tapes being cablecast. To the left is a VCR used for administrative functions.
Eleven playback decks (10 VHS, 1 8MM) are maintained in the rack, along with digital controlling units. Tapes are loaded and cablecast from these playback decks.
