Alpha Prime — According to the leader of a group of disgruntled Federation officers, a large amount of Federation personel are planning a defection to the Omicron Union. A defection that has been approved by the OU.

Not since the Omicron Union was founded has a group of Federation officers planned such a defection. The leader of the group, Commodore Jason Ryans, has told Infinite Beyond reporters that himself, along with another Federation officer are planning to leave the Federation at the end of this week and join the Omicron Union.

According to Commodore Ryans, he and the group have been in talks with the Star Marshal of the Omicron Union and the plan has been approved by both sides. The plan is to have the Federation officers leave their posts, board a civilian vessel, and head for OU space. Ryans said that he and the rest of his defectors would not use Federation vessels to cross the border,"The vessels we will be using are vessels built by the civilian ship yards owned by the company JTR Nova Ltd whom I am currently leasing the Granduer from. We will not be taking Federation Vessels across the border".

Commodore Ryans is currently serving as the Executive Officer of Starfleet Intelligence, a rather high ranking position and the nature of why he and his defectors are leaving remains a mystery. Commodore Ryans refused to give reasons, but said he would upon arrival in Omicron space. Many speculate that Ryans does not approve of the method in which the Federation conducts itself. In addition, Ryans said he has not informed Starfleet Command, but will on the day of his departure.
