Announce New Stardrive
Anipax Union Temporal mechanics
isn't the only thing that Hayant Industries has been working on.
Hayant, in collaberation with Onvex Stellar Designs, has produced
the possible replacement for the aging spacefold stardrives which
have been suffering a 25% failure rate ever since their inception
- in layman terms, 1 out of every 4 ships using spacefold suffer
a malfuction of one sort or another.
At the NewGen convention being held on Chi'von
III this week, Hayant-Onvex unveiled the following prototypes to
replace the spacefold stardrive:
1. The Silas Subspace Corridor Generator, or SCG.
The SCG is designed to open up a subsapce corridor between two points
in space, much like a wormhole, and allow safe passage from one
point to the other. Compared to the spacefold drive, the Generator
takes had half the energy requirments and is said to cut a third
off of spacefold travel time. Subspace theorist Gen Silas of the
Tiranus Science Academy is credited with hatching the initial concepts
of the SCG.
2. The Hayant-Onvex Yeli'nah Mark IV Spacefold Stardrive
The brainchild of Kyphan engineer Elar Ta'nay, the Yeli'nah Mk.IV
takes from original concepts of an existing spacefold drive and
is said to have ironed out all the bugs that plague existing spacefold
designs. Elar Ta'nay's design promises to cut the possibility for
malfuction to with 0.02 percent. In addition, projected travel time
is reduced by 35%, but energy requirements remain the same for standard
spacefold drives.
So far, the Yeli'nah Mk IV seems to be the
drive of choice among perspective users - primarily traders and
privite citizens already familiar with the standard spacefold set
up, which the Yeli'nah maintains. The militaries of the Anipax and
particular member-state however, appear to lean toward the Silas
SCG.
