Alpha Prime — The Anipax Union is closing its borders and tightening security after a rogue force managed to destroy an AU starbase and fleet and capture a prototype vessel.

Ambassador Pans Rava, the diplomatic envoy to the Federation, made the announcement after the brutal attack on the Anipax Union. Ambassador Rava released this address to reporters before leaving.

The symbol of the Anipax Union appears on the monitor, as quickly fades to show the solemn face of a
young Macaian woman standing from behind her desk. There are rings around her eyes and she looks
exhausted, but determined in the message she is about to convey to foreign nations that having
dealings with the Anipax, no matter how small. She takess a deep breath, and then delivers her
message..

"For those of you who do not know me, I am Pans Rava, the Anipax Union's diplomatic envoy to the
United Federation of Planets... it is my sad duty to relay this statement from my goverment, not
only to the Federation, but to the rest of the galaxy as well..."

Pans paused, trying to compose herself after being obviously shaken by something..

"Earlier today, there was an attack made against the Anipax from deep within our borders. The target
was Alnast Station, a place that has served as a crossroads of commerce and transportation for over
a century. The attackers came without warning, destroying the station and its defense fleet in a
matter of minutes before stealing an advance starship prototype currently being showcased at the New
Gen convention that was being held on Alnast this week...

"When defense forces were finally able to respond to the scene, all they found were the burning
remains of the station and the ships that defending her. We also had the remains of ships and escape
pods, filled with the dead and dying who had tried to escape this assault. So far, we've only been
able to retrieve a mere hand full of survivors out of the 120,000 who were on Alnast as the time of
the attack, and those that lived through this only number in the low hundreds.We're hoping that
we'll be able to find more survivors, but thus far the initial searches have only recovered the
remains of those that were not vaporized when the station and ships exploded.

"Reports for suvivoring fighter pilots indicate that the ships that attacked were unmarked and were
able to fire right through the shields of our ships and know exactly where to hit the station for
maximun damage. This has left the Anipax to believe that the attackers somehow learned the
freguencies of our ships' shield harmonics, and the engineering specifications of a Durah class
starbase, the likes of which Alnast was. An extensive investigation has already been set up to hunt
down and find those responsible for this attack..

"For security measures, until this crisis is over, all travel to and from the Anipax is sealed. No
one will be allowed to leave or enter the Anipax without first stopping at the appropriate border
check in stations. Ships stopping at these check ins will undergo sensory scans, and if necessary,
searches by boarding parties. Failure to comply on any level will result in the ship and crew being
detained for questioning. In addition, the military has been placed on full alert, and have been
given orders to engage any vessels near our borders that attempt to break through.

"Because of the measure of this tragedy, we ask that the other nations of the galaxy cooperate with
the Anipax in these matters. Should you have any leads as to who has done this, please tell us.
However, should we find that any foreign nation is responsible for this attack, directly, or
indirectly though aid rebel organization.. hear us now.

"We will destroy you."
