Lunar-Link Systems can provide special versions of the LA-x2A Series amplifiers for industrial, scientific, military and commercial applications.

LA-x2 amplifiers can be adapted to operate on most any frequency from 30 MHz to 500 MHz with a typical tuning range of 7% of the center frequency.

Some example applications are:

A modified LA-72 was supplied to a large communications equipment OEM for the purpose of testing control transmitter equipment such as filters and diplexers. The LA-72 was modified for a center frequency of 460 MHz. The operating parameters used a complex digital wave form with the LA-72 running at 2200 watts peak output (approximately 1000 watts average power). The LA-72 was used to test their equipment at power levels substantially over their normal ratings in order to simulate operation at altitudes up to 15,000' ASL. The LA-72 was able to save the customer a substantial amount of their testing costs by not having to test the equipment in a vacuum chamber at reduced air pressure levels.

A defense contractor purchased a modified LA-72 to operate at 450 MHz. The application is for testing of various components used in ECM transmitters such as coaxial switches, antennas, connectors, transmission lines and diplexers. In this application the modified LA-72 is operated at 1000 watts continuous carrier output for periods up to 6 hours continuous. Some of the special modifications to the LA-72 included: Type SC connectors for RF output and the RF power meter dual directional coupler. A heater voltage relaxation circuit was added that lowered the heater voltage to compensate for cathode back heating during the extended power output periods. A high capacity blower was added along with a heat sink on the dual directional coupler.

A government agency purchased two LA-22 amplifiers operating at 150 MHz. They are combined through a hybrid combiner that was also designed and manufactured by Lunar-Link Systems. The combined two LA-22 RF decks are operated at over 3,000 watts RF output and are being used for and RF heating application that is used to simulate temperature rise in a small nuclear reactor prototype. To handle the 3KW continuous RF output power 7.16 DIN connectors were used for the RF output.

Lunar-Link Systems designed a 22.5KW, 150 MHz RF power amplifier for use in semiconductor fabrication. A LA-22A is used as the driver amplifier.

A LA-62 was supplied to a plasma generation OEM, Manitou Systems, Inc. The RF deck was modified to operate in the industrial ISM band at a power level of 3,500 watts pulsed power, 50% duty cycle at 1 to 5KHz rep rate. Manitou Systems provided a complete plasma generation system using their Helius(r) microprocessor controlled RF generator. The Helius(r) generator supplies RF drive power in CW and pulsed modes and has power ramping and leveling capabilities.
