About me... scrawl

|
my name is pete cayer.
i live in bristol, connecticut, USA with my girlfriend, 2 cats, and a ball pyhton.
i work as a television newscast director at the local NBC station, WVIT-TV.
I can usually be found somewhere around, on top of, or beneath a classic
vw beetle (i have two) or driving about in my iroc-z. i maintain a few other
sites, including a website about my cars,
my NASCAR race team, and i am the
admit of the band's official messageboard.
i have been a fan of ned's atomic dustbin since
i first heard them in fall of 1992. i started using
the alias 'scrawl' in chat rooms when i first got online in the summer of 1996.
i needed a login name and that one fit the bill.
once my collection started growing, i started a webpage about the band.
i love the artwork so much that i wanted to post the covers, something none
of the other sites at the time did. as time passed the other websites
disappeared and i tried to pick up the slack. some of the information
here (such as the tour archive) is left over from those original sites that
were on the web long before i ever was. for those like kris maling and
yoda, this site is eternally grateful.
my ned's collection spans about 30 cd's, 10
records (a few of which are autographed), 10 videotapes, and 10~15 bootleg shows,
as well as t-shirts, posters, and stickers. i'm sorry to say i don't copy
or trade them anymore because some of them have suffered from being copied (overplayed)
too much.
If there's anything i can do to give you a hand -
questions, comments, or anything you'd like to see added - please feel
free to drop me a line, or post to the bboard so maybe someone can help you
there.
on january 1st, 2000, www.nedsatomicdustbin.com
was launched by mike gilligan, who happens to be one of the first people i ever
traded anything neds related with. in 2000, as the band prepared to get
back together for a few shows, mike contacted me and asked me to help set up
neds.com as the band's official website. pretty damn cool, eh?
in 2001, as neds announced their shows for that summer, i decided i needed to
see them play - for the first time ever. in september i flew to england to see
the band play at JB's in Dudley, West Midlands. it was truly amazing. i got
to meet the band, and chat with jonn. he was even kind enough to give me a shout-out
before playing "scrawl." i also got to meet a lot of cool people i
had only known through my keyboard. it still stands out as THE coolest thing
i have ever done, and the greatest adventure of my life.
i managed a return trip in 2004 and met a whole group of new friends, and got
to know the members of the band a bit better. i am eternally grateful to jonn,
dan, alex, andy and martin for making me feel like one of the family, because
i am no one special. just another fan.
so i guess i'm just lucky that all this work has paid off.
who'd have thunk it? it's been well worth it.
in neds we trust,
pete.
